Constructed in 1925 as
the headquarters of The Miami News, this tower was patterned after the
famous Moorish tower in Seville, Spain. In 1962, it became the
processing center for Cuban refugees, and became known as the Freedom
Tower after the center was closed. It was restored in 1988, but was
never occupied. It will now become a museum honoring the
Cuban-American experience.
